MY FIRST FILM

Inspirations

I was talking with a friend of mine, the actor and filmmaker Ashvin-Kumar Joshi, and he wanted to know what the inspiration for the film was? Where did I get the idea for the feature? Well, the answer to that question is that I got first spark while I was on a film shoot in Cornwall, called White Admiral.

We had just finished filming and I got a chance to go out and explore the country lanes. As I was taking in the beautiful landscape, I would walk past entrances to farms and manors. There would be a gate and a driveway, and that all I could see. The rest was hidden from sight behind high trees and hedges. Each place I came across was the same. They were all secluded from each other. That got me thinking, what a wonderful place be a great location for a horror film. Anything could be going on in these places and nobody would know about it.

Once I got back to London, I got noodling over story ideas that could take place in one of those secluded locations. It got me thinking about White Admiral. I liked the concept of that film, but I didn’t like the way it was done. I thought about what I could do with making that story into a horror and then adding the secluded location. And here we are a year later, on the fourth draft of the script. And it all started on a small shoot in the Cornish countryside. You never know where you will get an idea for a film.
