MY FIRST FILM
MY FIRST FILM
The Day After The Screening
Thursday, 29 March 2007
The screening went well. Actually, the screening went really well. The screening room was so packed that people had to sit on the floor. I had to step over people to get to the front of the screen. I was so nervous, most of the people there were strangers to me, that I forget all the points I wanted to say. I quickly made my speech up, and get out of there as fast as I could. The lights went down and the films started, and I thought I could relax, but the screen was green. My heart hit the floor. I darted out the door and into projection, but the projectionist had corrected the problem and the film was back to it’s normal colour. Also this didn’t bother the audience and get in the way of them enjoying the films.
Everybody who came up to me afterwards was very complementary about the films. They all seem to have a favourite one. Some people liked Primero, some people liked Segundo and others preferred Tercero. I was able to hand out DVDs to the cast and crew, and as I had extras, anybody who asked me for one got a copy. I saw some for the crew members who couldn’t make it. They are all off working.
I did a lot of chatting to people afterwards, and this is the part that makes my head spin, as I spoke to so many people that I can’t remember who said what to me. I try to think about what was said, but it just starts that spinning sensation again.
I have received a lot of emails this morning from people commenting on how much they enjoyed the films and thanking me for a great night. Actually, Rob Wickings has put an entry in his blog about the screening. (Rob was the colour timer on the film.) Here’s the link to it: http://theuglytruth.blogspot.com/ It’s a really good read and I thank him for the review.
Also just to clear up one thing. Monologue Triptych isn’t a horror / thriller. It’s a drama. I just wanted to clear that up as some people were confused about what genre it is at the screening. My first feature is going to be a horror / thriller, not Monologue Triptych. I have written about it in this blog, as it effects the progress of the feature. As I am now finished working on these short films, I can dedicate more time to the feature.
