Hello. My name is Simon Aitken. I’m a filmmaker and I am making my first feature film. As this will only happen once in my life, I have decided to document it on this site. See how a feature is really made from the very beginning to the very end, you can follow my progress on this site.

“Blood + Roses” (Blood And Roses) is the title of the film I making. It is a vampire story about Martin and Jane, a couple taking time off, trying to put the past behind them. Jane attracts the attention of another man, Seth, a vampire who sees something in Jane. After one night with Seth, Jane undergoes a painful transformation. A change that gives her more than she ever thought possible. But to finalise this transformation Jane must feed. Can she take a life to secure her own?

3 years ago I started work on making my first feature film and I am very happy to announce that Blood + Roses is now finished! It has taken longer than I had planned to complete it, but I am very thrilled with how the film has turned out.

This doesn’t mean the work is over. I now have to get the film out there. This means screenings. This means film festivals. This means finding a distributor. I will be putting up a list of screenings on this site as soon as the information becomes available. I have decided to take part in National Writing Month (otherwise know as NANOWRIMO) and write a novel. I have never done it before, but I won by writing 50,000 words in the month of November.
